On October 11, choreographer Tuyet Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Dance Artists Association, said that Vietnam Dance Week 2024 will open on the evening of October 13 in Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province.
This is the biggest annual event of the year in the dance industry, organized by the Vietnam Dance Artists Association in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, and the Kon Tum Literature and Arts Association, to honor, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, ethnic cultural identities of the Vietnamese ethnic community, and at the same time spread the quintessence of Vietnamese dance art to contemporary audiences and international friends.

With the theme "River of Light", Vietnam Dance Week 2024 will feature many meaningful activities, aiming to connect the cultural industry.
The highlight of Vietnam Dance Week 2024 is the performance of the contemporary dance “Sesan” taking place at the opening ceremony on the evening of October 13, at KonKlor Communal House.
The dance “Sesan” is inspired by the characteristics of contemporary dance and movement art, honoring the strongest and most pristine beauty of the Central Highlands culture, clearly depicting the cultural exchange as well as the community connection of indigenous peoples living along the Se San River, where the sources and sediments of culture and art are preserved, both mysterious and full of energy.
Vietnam Dance Week was initiated and founded by choreographer Tuyet Minh in 2023, bringing together a large number of performing artists, choreographers, theorists and critics; young talents in performing and practicing movement arts... to spread the quintessence of dance art to contemporary audiences and international friends.
The performance features talented artists from leading art units and dance schools in Vietnam such as Meritorious Artist Nhu Quynh, Meritorious Artist Cao Chi Thanh, artist - dance instructor Manh Hung, young talents: Quang Anh, Mai Len, Thuy Hien, Vu Hue... along with dancers from the Center for Culture and Arts, gong artisans of Kon Tum province.
The second key activity is the Vietnam Ethnic Dance Competition for professional choreographers nationwide with the aim of honoring, preserving, promoting and publicizing the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese ethnic communities, especially in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
The contest will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 at the 1st floor Hall, Po Lang Stage, Indochine Hotel, Kon Tum city.
Within the framework of Vietnam Dance Week 2024, a national conference with the theme "The trend of returning to the original elements in contemporary movement art" will take place on October 15, with the participation of international experts, artists, critics, and art experts of the Vietnam Dance Artists Association.
The workshop aims to share knowledge, discuss and exchange about development trends of art forms related to movement, experience and some approaches and creativity in contemporary artworks.
The discussion content includes 4 groups of topics: Current status and development trends of contemporary movement art; Cultural identity and diversity in dance art; Trends of returning to the original elements in contemporary movement art; Indigenous dance - Promoting cultural exchange... to find solutions for developing dance art in particular and movement art in general in the coming time.
The closing ceremony of Vietnam Dance Week will take place on the afternoon of October 15.
