On the evening of October 29, the Central Hydrometeorological Station issued an emergency warning of an especially large flood on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River. According to the update, the water level at 6:00 p.m. on October 29 on the Vu Gia River at Ai Nghia was at 10.56m, 1.56m above alert level 3.

Thu Bon River at Nong Son is at 18.6m, 3.6m above alert level 3; at Giao Thuy is at 9.87m, 1.07m above alert level 3; at Cau Lau is at 5.32m, 1.32m above alert level 3; at Hoi An is at 3.11m, 1.11m above alert level 3.
It is forecasted that in the next 6-18 hours, the flood on Vu Gia - Thu Bon river will continue to rise and peak. The flood peak on Vu Gia river at Ai Nghia is likely to be above alert level 3 at 1.6 - 1.8m, at a level approximately equal to the historical flood in 2009.

Flood on Thu Bon River at Cau Lau above alert level 3 is 1.45 - 1.5m, at a level approximately equal to the historical flood in 1964. At Hoi An above alert level 3 is 1.5m, at a level 0.1m higher than the historical flood in 1964.
