Da Nang is deeply flooded in many places, tens of thousands of households are affected by heavy rain.

On October 29, Da Nang city continued to have heavy rain, water from upstream poured in and complicated developments caused many low-lying residential areas to continue to be deeply flooded, causing landslides, seriously affecting the lives of thousands of people.

In low-lying residential areas of Hoa Phuoc commune, Da Nang city, some areas are flooded up to 2 meters deep. Households are having to continue to raise their household items to avoid water and move out of the flooded areas.

Having just waded out of the flooded area, Mr. Le Hung in Mieu Bong village, Hoa Phuoc commune said that from 10 pm on October 28, water rushed into the residential area causing severe flooding. Mr. Hung's house was flooded up to his chest, and the whole family had to climb up to the attic to sit. On the morning of October 29, Mr. Hung and his family had to wade to the school's higher side to escape because they heard that the water level was still rising.

“We also prepared some food, we didn’t think the water would rise to this level, our house is located in a high area of ​​the village,” Mr. Hung said.

Mr. Tran Van Giang had to abandon important belongings and put his child in a foam box to move out of the flooded area.

Mr. Giang said that his house area was flooded since 7 pm last night. Seeing that the water continued to rise, this morning he packed up important belongings with his wife and children to avoid the flood. Because the area was deeply flooded, he was worried about an accident on the flooded road, so he put his children in a styrofoam box to push them away for safety. Many people here are also moving out of the flooded area, the water is rising.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Hiep Duc Commune, Le Quang Quynh, said that on the afternoon of October 29, functional forces and canoes of Hiep Duc Commune crossed the flood to reach the scene in Tan Thuan village and promptly transported patient Tran Thi Kim Dung (born in 1948) with heart disease to the emergency room safely. Before that, the police force, militia and commune organizations had organized support to evacuate 7 households in the area at risk of dangerous landslides to other safe temporary shelters.

Faced with this situation, functional forces including police, army, militia and rescue forces were urgently mobilized to flooded areas, organizing the evacuation of people from deep flooded areas, especially the elderly, women and children. At the same time, functional units continued to transport necessities, food and drinking water to safe shelters.

The Da Nang City government has requested localities to increase 24/7 on-duty, proactively monitor flood developments, prepare rescue plans, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

According to the forecast of the Central Hydrometeorological Station, heavy rain may continue in the next 24 hours, with the risk of landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas. Currently, the water level in the upper reaches of the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River is rising again, while the lower reaches of the rivers are fluctuating at level 3 above alert level. In the next 24 hours, floods on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River will continue to rise and peak. Widespread deep flooding will continue in low-lying areas along the river, and inundation in urban areas.

Especially the communes: Que Phuoc, Nong Son, Duy Xuyen, Thu Bon, Xuan Phu, Thanh My, Thuong Duc, Ha Nha, Phu Thuan, Vu Gia, Dai Loc, Go Noi, Dien Ban Tay, Dien Ban Bac, Hoa Tien...

People are advised not to be subjective and to strictly follow the instructions of the authorities and rescue forces.

Currently, due to heavy rain, a number of communes and wards in Da Nang city continue to be flooded; the number of households flooded due to heavy rain is 66,813 households. The communes and wards that are completely isolated include 10 communes and wards (Go Noi, Thuong Duc, Vu Gia, Ha Nha, Dai Loc, Nong Son, Que Phuoc, Duy Xuyen, Thu Bon, Phu Thuan).

The heavily flooded communes and wards include 29 communes and wards (Hai Van, Hoa Xuan, Hoa Tien, Lien Chieu, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoa Vang, Ba Na commune; Thanh My commune, Phuoc Tra; Viet An, Son Cam Ha; Xuan Phu, Thang An, Thang Dien, Thang Binh, Thang Phu, Dong Duong, Quang Phu, Tay Ho, Phu Ninh; Dien Ban Tay, Duy Xuyen, Nam Phuoc, An Thang ward, Hoi An, Hoi An Tay, Hoi An Dong, Duy Nghia, Dien Ban, Dien Ban Bac).

Communes and wards have evacuated 4,835 households/15,886 people.
