Remote traffic diversion onto Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway when Chau O bridge is closed

Due to the impact of rising flood waters, Chau O Bridge Km1036+261 National Highway 1 through Quang Ngai province is currently under a bridge ban, with checkpoints set up at both ends of the bridge to control, guide and warn vehicles from a distance.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, for long-distance vehicles or heavy-duty trucks, the unit has coordinated with the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the Traffic Police Department, and local police forces to organize traffic diversion from afar onto the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, in the north at the Chu Lai - Truong Hai interchange and in the south at the end of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway access road.

Specifically, vehicles coming from the North can turn right at the Chu Lai - Truong Hai intersection (Nui Thanh commune) to travel on the expressway to the intersection at Km1063+720 (corresponding to the intersection between National Highway 1 and the expressway at Km139+204), and then continue their journey south.

Conversely, vehicles coming from the South can access the highway at the final interchange of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to avoid the flooded area.

For vehicles traveling on National Highway 1 from the north towards the Doc Soi intersection (Km1028), they should turn left onto the local road through the Dung Quat industrial zone, then rejoin National Highway 1 at the Binh Long intersection (Km1040+200) and vice versa.

According to a representative from the Vietnam Road Administration, this is a short-term traffic diversion plan that helps maintain continuous traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area.

The floodwaters have reached the bridge girders at kilometer marker 1036+261 on National Highway 1, in Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province, threatening the safety of the structure.

To ensure safety, authorities have closed the bridge and are regulating traffic on the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway and the Dung Quat road.

The Road Management Area III has also directed the assignment of personnel to be on duty, monitor the situation, and coordinate with local forces to ensure the safety of the construction site, and to manage, regulate, and guide traffic.
