Body of missing man found while collecting firewood in river during flood

On the afternoon of October 29, Mr. Tran Thien Nhan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ai Tu commune, Quang Tri province, said that the authorities found the body of a man who went missing while collecting firewood in the river during the flood.

Accordingly, Mr. T.D.T. (born in 1968), residing in Tra Lien Tay village, Ai Tu commune, was found at about 3:30 p.m. the same day, about 800 meters from the accident site, on the Thach Han river. The authorities are carrying out procedures to hand over the body to the family for burial according to local customs. Representatives of the commune leaders visited and encouraged the victim's family.

As reported by VNA, at 9 p.m. on October 27, Mr. T.D.T. went to Thach Han River to collect wood but did not return. When he left, Mr. T. rowed a small boat. In recent days, there has been heavy rain in the area, causing the Thach Han River to rise and flow rapidly.

According to the Quang Tri Province Civil Defense Command, heavy rains in recent days have caused flooding in the entire province, with about 663 households and 1,965 people. The locality has evacuated 137 households and 385 people from vulnerable and dangerous areas. Floods have left one person missing and seriously damaged the road system...
