BBC reported that Ancelotti and his agent will step up negotiations with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to make a decision about his future soon. Diego Fernandes, a member of the CBF, was seen attending the Copa del Rey final in the early morning of April 27. This move comes at a time when coach Ancelotti's future needs to be decided soon.
According to the BBC , Fernandes' mission when coming to Europe is to convince Ancelotti to accept the job of leading the Brazilian team as soon as the La Liga season ends. This could mean that the Italian coach will leave the Bernabeu before the team participates in the FIFA Club World Cup in the US in mid-June.
On April 22, Globo and AS revealed that coach Ancelotti had agreed to the CBF's offer, but still needed to complete the final procedures.
Ancelotti is the leading candidate to replace Dorival Junior, who was sacked by the CBF after Brazil's 4-1 loss to Argentina in a 2026 World Cup qualifier last month. Brazil are currently fourth in the World Cup qualifying standings.
CBF believes that Ancelotti will bring success and increase the national team's chances of competing for the 2026 World Cup. Previously, CBF tried to invite Ancelotti to lead the team at Copa America 2024 but was unsuccessful.
Ancelotti’s arrival in Brazil will be his first time in charge of a national team, after more than three decades coaching top clubs such as AC Milan, Chelsea and Bayern Munich. With his existing relationship with Brazilian stars such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao, Ancelotti is expected to create a cohesive and competitive Selecao.
