On October 7, Hai Phong City held a memorial service to commemorate the 583rd death anniversary of national hero and world cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai at his temple in the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site (1442 - 2025).

In his memorial speech, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized that Nguyen Trai, pen name Uc Trai, was born in the year of Canh Than (1380) in Thang Long Citadel; his father was Nguyen Phi Khanh, originally from Chi Ngai village (now Tran Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong city) and later moved to Ngoc Oi village (now Thuong Tin commune, Hanoi city); his mother was Tran Thi Thai, daughter of the Minister of Justice Tran Nguyen Dan.

During his childhood, Nguyen Trai lived with his maternal grandfather in Thang Long and Con Son. After his grandfather passed away, he returned to live with his father in Nhi Khe village. Educated by his maternal grandfather and father, Nguyen Trai soon became famous for his talent, virtue, and great ambition.

In 1400, at the age of 20, he passed the Thai Hoc Sinh exam, and the following year he received the position of Royal Censorate Chief under the Ho Dynasty. From 1407, the country was under the domination of the Ming invaders. Nguyen Trai participated in Lam Son Tu Nghia, presented Binh Ngo Sach, and contributed to Le Loi in the resistance war against the Ming army.

After the victorious resistance, Nguyen Trai wrote the Proclamation of Victory over the Wu - the immortal Declaration of Independence, a heroic work of literature summarizing the great resistance war against the Ming invaders of the nation.

The Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee affirmed that the ideology and eternal values ​​of the Truc Lam Buddhist ancestral place at Con Son Pagoda and the outstanding cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai have made an important contribution to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex being listed as a world heritage site.

After the ceremony, Hai Phong City leaders and people offered incense at Nguyen Trai Temple and Tran Nguyen Dan Temple, praying for national peace and prosperity, and for the country to last forever.

Before the memorial ceremony, the delegation, along with a large number of people and tourists, held a procession from Con Son Pagoda to Nguyen Trai Temple, expressing their respect for the World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai.
