To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize the Fine Arts Exhibition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Reunification.
The event is an opportunity for the public to look back at the nation's heroic half-century through the lens of art, with new creations, reflecting the national spirit in the flow of contemporary art.
This is an activity to honor historical and cultural values through the arts of painting and sculpture, and is an opportunity to introduce typical and excellent works of art by generations of artists, painters and sculptors who have made many contributions to the development of advanced Vietnamese fine arts, imbued with national identity, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
After a serious and objective working process, the Art Council selected 50 high-quality works from hundreds of submitted works.
Mr. Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, Head of the Organizing Committee, said: The selection of works is carried out publicly and transparently, aiming at true artistic values, while encouraging new explorations in expression, in order to reflect the diverse and vibrant appearance of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts. The exhibition is an opportunity for art to accompany the flow of national history.
"We expect this to be a space connecting the past and the present, between artists and the public; thereby, spreading humanistic values, solidarity and aspirations for the country's development in the new period," Mr. Ma The Anh stated.
Sharing at the selection of works, artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, Chairman of the Art Council, emphasized: The Fine Arts Exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of National Reunification is a large-scale art event, an emotional spiritual gift that artists want to send to the public. This is an opportunity for art to reflect the heroic memories of the nation, and open up contemporary perspectives, demonstrating the creative continuity between generations of artists.
Each work has its own voice, but when combined in the common space of the exhibition, they tell the story of 50 years of the country's revival, construction and development, in a wordless but powerful language - the language of art.
