The representative of the land of cherry blossoms participated in both finals last season but lost to Iran and is ranked 10th in the world . The goal that captain Thanh Hang and her teammates are aiming for is a victory to get closer to the ticket to attend the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup (with 3 spots for the region).
In preparation for the 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Championship finals, the Vietnamese team had a training trip to Japan, had the opportunity to face the Japanese team and lost 1-4. Therefore, the Vietnamese team's goal of winning against the Japanese team is not simple. The Japanese team entered the quarter-finals with a slight disadvantage when they had 1 day less rest and had to go through a tiring match against the Thai team in the last round. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team ended the group stage quite easily when in the final match against the Iranian team, both sides did not want to win and proactively saved their energy for the quarter-finals.
Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said: "No one on the team is currently injured, everyone is ready for the quarter-final match. In today's match, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will have to focus on the team's formation distance and have a plan to neutralize Japan's powerful long-range shots from midfield."
The remaining quarter-final matches are as follows: Thailand will face Hong Kong (China), Indonesia will face host China and Chinese Taipei will face Iran.
