Vietnam women's futsal team plans tactics to play Japan

The Vietnamese women's futsal team quickly met to discuss tactics to face Japan in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship taking place in China.

At noon on May 12, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had a training session right on schedule to prepare for the quarter-final match of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship against Japan.

The Vietnamese women's futsal team (ranked 11th in the world ) won first place in Group B with 7 points after 3 matches. Meanwhile, the Japanese women's futsal team (ranked 10th in the world) finished second in Group C after losing 1-3 to Thailand in the final match of the group stage.

In this training session, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang focused on improving the intensity, speed of play and mentality of the players in preparation for the important match with the Japanese women's futsal team.

Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang assessed Japan as a high-quality team, so the Vietnamese women's futsal team must prepare seriously to achieve the best results.

"We trained in Japan before attending the Asian tournament and lost to them 1-4 in a friendly match. The Japanese women's futsal team has a fast playing style, good technique and caused us a lot of difficulties," he said.

Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said that after receiving information about the opponent, the coaching staff quickly met to discuss and come up with a suitable tactical plan.

He believes that the advantage of the Vietnamese women's futsal team is physical strength, as Japan just went through a tense match with Thailand. "Mentally, they may also be affected after losing 1-3 to the Thai women's futsal team. We will take advantage of that," said coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang.

In addition to focusing on perfecting tactics for the players, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's futsal team also let the players practice penalty kicks in case the match ends in a draw and the winner must be decided in a penalty shootout.

Compete for 3 tickets to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup

The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship will take place from May 7 to 18 in Inner Mongolia (China) with the participation of 12 teams, divided into 3 groups.

The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The top three teams (champion, runner-up and third place) will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup taking place later this year in the Philippines.
