'Antony cannot play in the Premier League'

Antony was criticised for his lacklustre performance in Real Betis' 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Conference League final.

Antony's future after the final remains a big question mark.

Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea player, commented on ESPN : "I don't follow La Liga regularly, only watch the big matches, I think Antony has a positive change in his playing style. But in the Conference League final, I saw images of him when he was at Manchester United."

"I'm very disappointed, because I expected Antony to play more creatively and dangerously. Unfortunately for Betis, we don't see him as excellent as he has been recently," said the expert.

Leboeuf affirmed: "Antony should stay away from English football, should not face English teams and should not play for any club in England, because the environment there is not suitable. He cannot play in the Premier League."

Antony has struggled in his career since joining Manchester United in the summer of 2022. Under Erik ten Hag and then Ruben Amorim, he failed to show the same form as he did at Ajax, leading to a loan move to Betis.

However, Antony's impressive form in Spain has led many to believe that the Brazilian striker could still have a chance at Old Trafford. However, Leboeuf believes that Antony is only suitable to play in La Liga.

Since joining Betis in January, Antony has scored five goals in just 17 La Liga games, quickly equalling the tally he achieved in two-and-a-half years in the Premier League. The Brazilian also contributed four goals as Betis reached the UEFA Conference League final.

4 goals brought Chelsea to the Conference League championship. In the early morning of May 29, Chelsea defeated Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final, thereby completing the collection of titles at the continental level.
