Group A of the Vietnamese women's team is considered very attractive when coach Mai Duc Chung's team meets their rival Thailand. In this group, it is almost certain that Vietnam and Thailand will win tickets to the semi-finals because Indonesia and Cambodia are considered weak.
Group B consists of 4 teams: Philippines, Myanmar, Australia and Timor-Leste. In this group, Australia, Philippines and Myanmar compete for 2 tickets to the next round.
In the 2025 AFF Women's Championship, the top two teams from each group will advance. In the semi-finals, the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group B, while the winner of Group B will face the runner-up of Group A.
The tournament takes place from August 6 to 19, held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) and Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ). In which, host Vietnam will play 3 group stage matches at Viet Tri Stadium.
Currently, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are in Japan training, preparing for the 2026 Asian qualifiers and the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. Before the draw ceremony took place today in Hanoi , coach Mai Duc Chung and striker Huynh Nhu also represented the Vietnamese women's team to attend the launching ceremony of the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy for the 2024-2027 period organized by the VFF.

This is a project sponsored by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), within the framework of the program to support the development of women's football in Asia, launched in November 2024.
Accordingly, in the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy for the 2024-2027 period, VFF sets the following goals: Vietnam women's football strives to be among the top 5 teams in Asia; reach the finals of the 2026 and 2029 Women's Asian Cup; and qualify for the 2031 World Cup.
At the club level, Vietnamese women's football strives to have 3 representatives meeting the criteria to participate in the AFC Champions League 2028; 1 club reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League 2030; increasing the number of teams participating in the National Championship from 8 to 10 teams in 2027...
In addition, VFF also aims to develop young players, continuing the success of the National Women's Team; Widely deploy school football for female students to increase female participation in sports activities, especially football; Focus on training, equipping and supporting female coaches and female referees to reach the pinnacle of their profession...
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, President of VFF, affirmed that the Federation will continue to closely coordinate with partners to aim at the goal of comprehensive and sustainable development of Vietnamese Women's Football.
