The fulcrums to escape poverty

The Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province (Steering Committee) has just held a conference to summarize the Program for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area in 2025.

According to the Steering Committee’s report, the province has 6,331 poor and near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions, martyrs’ relatives and ethnic minorities in need of housing support. Of these, 4,149 houses need to be newly built and 2,182 houses need to be repaired.

Thousands of shelters have been built.

Thanks to the strong leadership, synchronous mobilization of resources and consensus of the people, by June 20, 2025, all 6,331 houses had been completed, reaching 100%, 2 months earlier than the Government's deadline. The projects all ensure the "3 hard" criteria, solidity, safety and suitability to the conditions of each locality.

The total cost of the program is over VND319 billion. In addition to the central, provincial and district budgets, it is worth noting that over VND57 billion was mobilized from businesses, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province. Each house is not only a place to live, but also a crystallization of the solidarity of fellow countrymen, a fulcrum for people to escape poverty and stabilize their lives.

This impressive success is the result of a synchronous, systematic and in-depth process. From the provincial to the communal level, Steering Committees were established, detailed plans were developed. Localities simultaneously organized emulation launching ceremonies, mobilized maximum resources, conducted thorough surveys, organized progress monitoring, and closely and transparently monitored construction quality.

Youth union members, militia, police... contributed tens of thousands of working days.

In addition, a notable highlight is the explosion of volunteer movements. Models such as “Zero-cost worker team”, “House building group”, or “Youth volunteers to build houses for people” have been effectively promoted throughout the province.

Youth union members, women's union members, militia, police and local soldiers have contributed tens of thousands of working days. Many teams of skilled workers are willing to work without compensation, helping poor households save costs and speed up progress.

Housing quality is also given special attention. Typical house models are designed to fit the reality of each region, from mountainous areas prone to landslides to coastal areas affected by storms and floods. Thanks to that, people not only have a stable home but also feel safe and secure in developing their economy .

Towards sustainable poverty reduction

From this success, the Provincial Steering Committee recommends that the central government continue to integrate housing support for poor, near-poor households and meritorious people into the National Target Programs for the period 2026 - 2030. Especially for households that have received support but their houses have deteriorated and are damaged.

Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has awarded certificates of merit to 46 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province in 2025". This is a worthy recognition for the tireless efforts of countless cadres, volunteers and people over the past time.

Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and enthusiastic participation of the entire political system, organizations, businesses and people in the province in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Ms. Van emphasized that this is a great and humane policy of the Party and State, demonstrating deep concern for the material and spiritual life of the people, especially policy families, poor and near-poor households, ethnic minorities and vulnerable groups in society.
