Faced with the risk of losing the safety of the Cay An reservoir dam in Ta Nang commune, Lam Dong province, on the evening of November 7, authorities worked all night to urgently reinforce the dam body and handle cracks and water leaks to prevent the risk of landslides and dam failure.

The landslide at the foot of the Cay An reservoir dam is 5m high and about 54m long. To respond to the risk of dam failure, on the night of November 7, the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command issued a document requesting the People's Committee of Ta Nang commune to coordinate with the police and military forces to organize an emergency evacuation of 110 households with more than 500 people in the downstream area of the reservoir to a safe place.
Cay An Lake has a designed capacity of 1.7 million cubic meters of water, serving irrigation for more than 250 hectares of agricultural land. In response to the appearance of cracks, leaks and local landslides on the dam body, along with temporary repairs, the amount of water in the lake has also been released, but there is still about 1 million m3. Throughout the night, along with functional forces, more than 200 military officers and soldiers along with many mechanical equipment were mobilized to participate in the rescue.
