The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has determined the 12 teams participating in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals taking place from March 1 to March 21 in Australia, including: Australia, South Korea, Japan, China, Bangladesh, Philippines, India, Chinese Taipei, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Iran and Vietnam.
According to the seeding results, the Vietnamese women's team is in the second seeding group, along with China and South Korea. Group 1 includes host Australia, Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; group 3 includes the Philippines, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan; group 4 includes Iran, India and Bangladesh.
The 12 teams will be divided into three groups, playing a round-robin. The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
The tournament also serves as the qualifying round for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The top six teams will qualify directly, while the seventh and eighth-placed teams will enter the FIFA intercontinental play-offs.
Currently, the Vietnamese women's team is training in Cam Pha (Quang Ninh) to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship taking place in Hai Phong in early August.
Before entering this tournament, head coach Mai Duc Chung and captain Huynh Nhu will represent the Vietnamese women's team to Australia on July 29 to attend the draw ceremony for the 2026 Asian Cup final round.
