Ms. Le Thi Huong Mai shared that after the exam results are out, the admission scores to high school will be considered in order of NV, so the strategy for choosing the NV order needs to be carefully calculated to avoid all three NV having almost the same admission scores.

With many years of experience in school management, Ms. Mai shared that in reality, there are students with average academic performance who can completely pass the entrance exam to a public school if they choose the right school. There are also students with average ability who apply to all 3 NV schools, all of which are top schools, but as a result, they fail all 3. On the contrary, there are students who are capable and diligent, but due to lack of confidence, they do not dare to apply to top schools and after the exam results are out, they feel very regretful.

“In particular, when choosing NV, there are still cases where students are influenced by their friends. Seeing their close friends choose school A, they also choose that school even though the admission score is higher than their actual ability,” said Ms. Mai. To avoid such situations, before each exam season, teachers pay attention and give detailed advice so that students and parents understand and choose the “drop point” that suits their ability.

When choosing a school, it is necessary to base on the actual learning ability of the student, especially based on the periodic tests and surveys done from the beginning of the school year to the time of application, then compare with the benchmark scores of the schools in the last 2-3 years to know what level you are at. You should divide the benchmark scores of previous years into the average score of each subject for a more accurate comparison because this year's score calculation does not multiply the coefficient, thereby narrowing down the appropriate group of schools.

In addition, it is necessary to consider the interests and personal orientation of students after high school. Each high school has its own strengths, has different study combinations, choosing the right study combination when entering grade 10 of high school will help students more easily choose a career later. "Geographical location is also important because a school, no matter how good, but too far from home will cause fatigue, affecting the 3 years of high school study. Although carefully researching before placing NV, parents and students also need to have a backup plan if the results are not as expected, to avoid being passive", said Ms. Huong Mai.

According to the Vice Principal of Dong Da Secondary School, parents should not put pressure on their children to choose a school or set goals that are too high, but should accompany them and create a solid foundation for them. Parents should support their children in studying and reviewing for exams, pay attention to their physical and mental health, and read and memorize important timelines, find out the benchmark scores of high schools in previous years and compare them with their children's test scores, discuss equally with their children, and consult teachers before deciding on choosing a school and taking exams.

For students, they need to practice all three subjects equally, avoiding studying unevenly. In addition to studying, they should get enough sleep, eat properly, and avoid staying up late for many days in a row.
