Bac Lieu gives 700 solid houses to poor and near-poor households

Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam - Deputy Minister of Public Security said that in recent years, the Ministry of Public Security has chaired the mobilization and coordinated with localities to build more than 28,600 houses for poor households, many schools and schools, with a total cost of more than 1,400 billion VND.

Leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and Bac Lieu province handed over a house to a poor Khmer ethnic household in the province.

In Bac Lieu, the Ministry of Public Security has built and completed 700 houses for poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties, ensuring progress and quality.

"This is a victory for the province's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, and a motivation for Bac Lieu province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity and pioneering in the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the coming time," said Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security also believes that with new, stable and solid housing, households will feel secure in working and producing to escape poverty. At the same time, families will continue to promote the spirit of national solidarity, trust in the leadership of the Party and State, and actively participate in ensuring security, order and social safety.

Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee - Pham Van Thieu said, after checking, in the province there are 2,537 temporary, dilapidated houses that need support for construction and repair, with a total cost of over 146 billion VND. However, Bac Lieu province is still poor, the economic scale is small, the budget revenue is not enough to cover expenses. Enterprises in the province are mainly small and medium, so mobilizing social resources to support people to remove temporary, dilapidated houses is still very limited.

“The implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses from the mobilized support of the Ministry of Public Security not only demonstrates the cooperation of all levels and sectors, but also strengthens the people's firm trust in the Party Committee, government and the people's police force,” Mr. Thieu emphasized.

The Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee also requested that after receiving the new house, households must preserve and use the house well and for a long time to stabilize their lives. Actively increase production, develop family economy, contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality, and be determined to escape poverty sustainably.

To date, Bac Lieu province has completed the construction of 1,758 houses in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The province will strive to mobilize resources to build the remaining 779 houses before July 1, 2025.
