On the afternoon of May 28, the Vietnam U19 women's team had their first practice match at Thong Nhat Stadium since gathering in Ho Chi Minh City, in preparation for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship starting next month.
The opponent of the U19 Vietnam girls is the Au Lac Club - a team that gathers high school players in District 7.
With much better physical condition and physique, Au Lac Club scored the opening goal. But after catching the rhythm of the game and playing more confidently, the Vietnam U19 women's team scored two goals in a row to lead 2-1 before the end of the first half.
The first goal came from a central attack and a shot past the goalkeeper. The second goal came from a header after a combination from the right flank.
In the second half, Au Lac Club equalized the score 2-2 when the match had only lasted 5 minutes. However, with reasonable substitutions by coach Okiyama Masahiko (Japan), the Vietnam U19 women's team scored 4 consecutive goals to win 6-2 against Au Lac Club.

Earlier on the morning of May 28, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Van Phu went to Thanh Long Sports Center - where the Vietnam U19 women's team is training - to visit and encourage the entire team.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu affirmed VFF's belief in the efforts and preparation of head coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team.
"The challenges ahead are not small, but VFF believes that the coaching staff and the whole team will achieve the best results in this tournament, creating momentum for further goals this year and towards important international tournaments in the future," said Mr. Phu.
Representing the Vietnam U19 women's team, striker Luu Hoang Van shared: "The whole team is working hard every day on the training ground. Last season, we reached the final but could not win the championship, which is a regret. This time, the whole team is very determined, aiming for the best results."
Tomorrow (May 29), the Vietnam U19 women's team will have another practice match with the Ho Chi Minh City U15 men's team at 6:30 p.m. at Thong Nhat Stadium. This is a test that promises to be even better for coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team before entering the official tournament.

Vietnam U19 women determined to win Southeast Asian championship
The 2025 Southeast Asian Women's U19 Championship will take place from June 9 to 18 in Ho Chi Minh City, co-organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Ho Chi Minh City (HFF).
The eight participating teams are divided into two groups, competing in a round-robin format to determine rankings. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The Vietnam U19 women's team is in Group A with Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes defending champions Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia. The goal of the Vietnam U19 team is to win the championship.
