Vietnam team continues to be in the world top 100
Winning both friendly matches of level “A” during the recent FIFA Days against Hong Kong (China) and Syria, the Vietnamese team has been added 8.54 points in the FIFA rankings for June 2023. Although still ranked 95th, the added points are very important for the Golden Star Warriors in the face of fierce competition from their opponents.
By securing its position on the FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese team continues to maintain its No. 1 position in Southeast Asia and No. 15 in Asia, thereby creating a certain advantage when the AFC conducts seed classification in preparation for the draw for the second qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Asia, taking place on July 20.
Following Vietnam in Southeast Asia is Thailand. The “War Elephants” were awarded an additional 2.49 points due to their 1-0 win over lower-ranked Hong Kong (China) and a 2-2 draw with Chinese Taipei in the FIFA Days friendly series in June. However, the additional points also helped Thailand move up one place to 113th in the world.
Other competitive teams in Southeast Asia have not seen any significant improvements in the rankings, with the Philippines ranked 135th, Malaysia ranked 137th and Indonesia ranked 150th in the world.
