Vietnam men's volleyball team competes in Asian tournament

VHO - Today, June 18 in Bahrain, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will embark on their journey at the Asian Volleyball Cup - AVC Nations Cup 2025.

At the AVC Nations Cup 2025, Coach Tran Dinh Tien brought to Bahrain a squad that was mostly the names that competed at the 2025 Asian Men's Club Cup in May.

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team participated in the tournament for the third consecutive time.

The team has registered 14 players, including: Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Phan Cong Duc, Cao Duc Hoang, Nguyen Thanh Hai, Trinh Duy Phuc, Hoang Xuan Truong, Dinh Van Duy, Tran Duy Tuyen, Truong The Khai, Che Quoc Lo Vit, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Duong Van Tien, Quan Trong Nghia and Pham Quoc Du.

Because transfer Pham Van Hiep could not participate due to injury, main striker Quan Trong Nghia was given the captain's armband in the tournament in Bahrain.

At the tournament, 12 teams participating in the AVC Nations Cup 2025 are divided into 4 groups (3 teams each), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is in Group D with Korea and New Zealand.

Coach Tran Dinh Tien's players will start their first match on June 18 against New Zealand, followed by a match against South Korea on June 19. These matches will all take place at 8:30 p.m. Vietnam time.

According to the competition format, the top 2 teams after the group stage will have a place in the quarter-finals to compete for tickets to the semi-finals and finals.

This is the third consecutive time the Vietnamese men's volleyball team has participated in the AVC Nations Cup. In 2023, the team ranked 4th, a year later the team ranked 6th.
