New leaks show that Samsung has redesigned the internal structure and upgraded the battery to bring a more durable experience to users.
In addition, the improved charging speed promises to help the Galaxy Z Fold 8 compete better in the increasingly fierce foldable phone market, especially when Apple is preparing to join the race with the first foldable iPhone model.

45W charging and bigger battery: the most anticipated upgrade
According to leaker @kro_roe, Samsung will redesign the internal structure of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to support 45W fast charging - similar to the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. This will be a big jump compared to the 25W charging speed that has existed for many years on the Z Fold line.
It is worth noting that despite the increased charging capacity, the device is still optimized to have a larger battery space. Previous rumors said that the Fold 8 could have a battery of nearly 5,000 mAh - a significant increase compared to the 4,400 mAh number used by Samsung from the Z Fold 3 (2021) to the Z Fold 7.
Previously, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 took nearly 90 minutes to fully charge and did not reach 50% after 30 minutes of charging, despite having a small battery. Upgrading battery capacity and charging speed simultaneously promises to bring a significantly better battery experience on the Fold 8.
Still can't beat the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but the improvement is real
Samsung is rumored to push wired charging speeds to 60W for the Galaxy S26 Ultra series launching in 2026. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 still stops at 45W - a more reasonable number for the foldable's slim design and split battery system.
Regarding wireless charging, sources have not recorded any changes. Galaxy Z Fold 7 only supports a maximum of 15W, much lower than Chinese competitors reaching 30W - 50W. There is still no sign that Samsung will upgrade this part on Fold 8, and this may continue to be a weak point of the Fold line.
Refined design, S Pen support, and improved durability
After a major design overhaul on the Fold 7, Samsung is said to be bringing more subtle changes to the Fold 8. Some leaks say: S Pen support is back; hinge and screen durability is improved; and the crease between the folding screen is minimized.
These improvements will help make the Fold 8 more complete, especially in the context of fierce competition in the foldable phone market.

Competitive pressure from foldable iPhone
One factor that creates heat for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is that Apple is predicted to launch the first foldable iPhone in 2026. If correct, the foldable smartphone market will witness a big change, forcing Samsung to complete the Z Fold series faster and stronger.
However, with upgraded battery and charging - two features that have been slow to improve for many years - the Galaxy Z Fold 8 promises to become a more powerful, more comprehensive product, and a formidable competitor in the high-end foldable phone segment.
