The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 98.23 - down 0.41 points compared to June 6, 2025.

Data from the US Labor Department showed employers added 139,000 jobs in May, down from 147,000 in April but above the 130,000 forecast in a Reuters survey of economists.
The dollar rose 0.84% to 144.72 against the Japanese yen and 0.33% to 0.823 against the Swiss franc. The greenback continued to gain against both safe-haven currencies after the data was released.
The dollar is headed for a second straight week of gains against the yen and Swiss franc, although it is still down about 8% and 9% against the two currencies this year.
The dollar has been pressured by uncertainty over President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, the prospects for negotiations with trading partners, deficit spending plans and the tax bill being considered in the Senate after passing the House, along with recent economic data trends, said Eugene Epstein, head of North American deal structure at Moneycorp in New Jersey.
However, Mr. Epstein commented that the market is starting to reverse some of its short positions on the USD after a series of stronger-than-expected economic data, including employment data.
“Every bank was predicting a weaker dollar, and I think that was probably true in the long run. But now the positions are stretched, and when the jobs and hourly earnings numbers came in strong, that turned around. The numbers were positive, and now the good news is bad news because the 10-year yield is up, which means that a rate cut is not going to happen anytime soon,” Epstein said.
The euro continued to fall against the dollar immediately after the jobs data was released, falling 0.28% to $1.1413.
The common European currency, which is on track for a weekly gain against the dollar, hit a six-week high of $1.14950 on Thursday after European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde said the ECB was nearing the end of its monetary easing cycle.
The U.S. dollar index, which measures the greenback's strength against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, rose 0.38% to 99.05 during the session, but was still headed for a weekly loss.
