Provincial People's Committee meets to discuss solutions to increase the reuse of waste rock and soil as construction materials

In order to increase the reuse of waste rock and soil as construction materials and promote the circular economy, on the morning of August 14, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a working session on the transfer of scientific and applied topics for the production of construction materials in the province.

To promote the reuse of waste rock and soil as filling materials for projects and constructions, the Provincial Business Association has coordinated with relevant departments and branches; the Institute for Research and Application of Tropical Materials (Hanoi University of Construction), and a number of enterprises to conduct research on 5 scientific topics in the application of construction material production in the province. In particular, the focus is on researching and perfecting equipment and technology to produce construction materials from mine waste rock and soil, solid waste from construction and industrial activities.

According to the representative of Indevco Group Joint Stock Company, based on the reality of exploiting mineral materials in the area that can be recycled for use, along with the high price of construction materials, directly affecting the progress and cost of construction works, the enterprise has boldly invested efforts, capital and coordinated with TKV Group, Army Corps 19 to approach and research the source of mine waste rock. This process is implemented synchronously with cooperation with domestic and foreign inspection units, aiming to find technical solutions to turn waste materials into construction materials of economic value. Currently, the enterprise has created construction products such as: Construction stone; sand meeting the standards for pouring concrete grade 400.

After listening to reports from businesses and relevant departments and sectors on the implementation and difficulties in the process of reusing waste rock and soil as construction materials, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the efforts of the units in implementing scientific and applied topics on the use of construction materials in the province in recent times. In order for the topics to be applied in practice, he emphasized that the province will select a public investment project for experimentation. The results from this experiment will be the basis for the province to provide technical standards and estimates for the reuse of mine waste rock and soil as construction materials in other works and projects in the area.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested departments and branches to speed up the removal of obstacles for businesses. From there, promote the use of waste rock and soil as landfill materials, especially for the proposals of businesses on reusing rock and soil from the construction process of the Ha Lam - Hong Ha inter-ward road project (now Ha Long ward) and using materials from the dismantling and site preparation for the construction of the Provincial General Hospital.
