Bac Lieu City People's Committee: Restrict traffic through Ward 8 suspension bridge

The People's Committee of Bac Lieu City has just issued an urgent notice to restrict traffic through the suspension bridge in Ward 8 to prepare for maintenance and repair until further notice.

Current status of Ward 8 suspension bridge.

Previously, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee sent an official dispatch requesting the Bac Lieu City People's Committee to direct specialized agencies to urgently repair the suspension bridge in Ward 8 to ensure safety for traffic participants.

The People's Committee of Bac Lieu City has approved the dossier for maintenance and repair of Ward 8 suspension bridge, and is in the process of selecting a contractor. The bridge is expected to be repaired in May 2025.

From May 15 until the bridge maintenance and repair work is completed and safety is ensured, the City People's Committee recommends that people travel along the concrete road along the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau canal and go through Nguyen Thi Minh Khai bridge (Ward 2). At the same time, the Bac Lieu City People's Committee assigned the Ward 8 People's Committee to arrange forces to guide people to travel in other safe directions.

As reported by Bac Lieu Radio and Television Station in print on May 15, 2025, the Ward 8 suspension bridge currently has many rotten spots on its floor, creating holes, the asphalt concrete layer on the bridge surface has been extruded, creating an uneven condition, the zinc wire in some spots shows signs of rust, gaps appear, making it unsafe for people and vehicles to cross the bridge.
