VssID-Social Insurance Number Application: Many practical utilities

- VssID is a digital social insurance application of Vietnam Social Security installed and used on mobile platforms. Up to now, the VssID-digital social insurance application has been constantly improved, adding many utilities, supporting participants of social insurance, health insurance (HI), unemployment insurance (UI) in the process of participating and enjoying regimes and policies.

Vietnam Social Security has continuously innovated, updated, and added many new features to the VssID application to ensure superiority and convenience for users, such as: Providing 7 online public services; easily looking up information on participation and enjoyment of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance with many utilities to help save time and costs when researching, grasping information, and performing public services with the Social Security agency.

From June 1, 2021, VssID application users can use the image of the health insurance card on the application when going to see a doctor or get medical treatment instead of using a paper health insurance card, bringing practical benefits to health insurance participants and medical examination and treatment facilities. In March 2023, the VssID - Social Insurance application added the function of displaying the time of unpaid social insurance and unemployment insurance, in order to publicize and make more information transparent, helping employees ensure their rights. On October 23, 2023, Vietnam Social Insurance coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to adjust and upgrade the VssID application to meet the requirements of connection and integration with VNeID accounts. Accordingly, users can log in to the VssID application with an electronic identification account (VNeID). VssID Installation Guide - Digital Social Insurance

At the conference to review the 6-month implementation of Project 06, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Public Security to coordinate with the Vietnam Social Security to deploy biometric authentication technologies based on chip-based citizen identification cards and the National Population Database to limit and prevent profiteering when paying and enjoying social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance regimes.

According to An Giang Social Insurance, the provincial Social Insurance has deployed and guided units, organizations and participants to update citizen identification numbers/personal identification numbers into management data. However, as of March 20, 2025, there are still 15,820/1,654,976 participants who have not updated, causing difficulties in handling participation procedures, issuing social insurance books, health insurance cards and implementing the regime.

To ensure the rights of participants, and to promptly deploy biometric authentication technologies based on chip-based citizen identification cards and the National Population Database, the provincial Social Insurance has issued an official dispatch announcing the update of citizen identification numbers/personal identification numbers for social insurance and health insurance participants. Accordingly, it is requested that employers; organizations managing health insurance participants; educational and training institutions; social insurance and health insurance collection service organizations and social insurance and health insurance participants review information of employees and participants under their management, create electronic records and send them to the social insurance agency under their management to update information. The deadline for completion is no later than April 15, 2025.

After April 15, 2025, if the participant has not updated their citizen identification/personal identification, the Social Insurance agency will temporarily stop processing the increase/decrease/adjustment records, temporarily stop issuing health insurance cards and will not confirm the social insurance payment process, will not issue separate sheets or procedures related to the social insurance book. In case of affected benefits due to not updating information, the unit and the participant will be fully responsible.

To update the citizen identification number or personal identification code for social insurance and health insurance participants on the VssID application, first check whether the citizen identification number has been updated on the VssID application or not: Open the VssID application, log in to the account; if the account already displays the citizen identification number, there is no need to update; if the old ID number is displayed, it is necessary to change the information.

How to update citizen identification number to VssID application on phone: Step 1, access the Social Security Public Service Portal, click on login; enter VssID account information and confirmation code to log in to proceed with the change from ID card to citizen identification on Social Security (VssID). Step 2, click on the person icon, select account information, scroll down to find citizen identification number information, enter personal citizen identification number, complete the update.

How to update citizen identification number into VssID application on computer: Step 1, access the Social Insurance Public Service Portal, log in with VssID account. Step 2, confirm successful login and proceed to change citizen identification number information. Step 3, enter new citizen identification number into personal information section, complete the update.
