The agreement of PVF-CAND Club (currently playing in the First Division) to play in the V-League is an opportunity for young players to overcome their comfort zone and strive to compete at the highest level. Despite the fact that they will face many challenges in the preparation process as the new season is approaching, PVF-CAND said they will try their best to be present on the V-League map.
PVF-CAND Club's ticket to V-League 2025 - 2026 is not official, but it shows the desire to rise of a young football force that has missed promotion three times in just the past 7 seasons.
3 missed appointments
PVF-CAND, formerly known as Pho Hien Club, was established in 2018, with headquarters and home ground located at PVF Youth Football Training Center (Van Giang, Hung Yen ). After only 1 season playing in the second division, Pho Hien was promoted to the first division and immediately won the runner-up position - meaning a promotion play-off spot. However, the team lost to Thanh Hoa in the most important match of the season. That was the first defeat.
In 2023, Pho Hien Club was transferred to the Ministry of Public Security and renamed PVF-CAND. Under the leadership of coach Mauro Jeronimo (Portuguese), PVF-CAND consecutively finished second in the First Division in the 2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, and also lost to V-League teams (Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh) in the promotion play-off matches.
Therefore, the V-League slot that Quang Nam left behind is no different from a "life-changing" opportunity for PVF-CAND. Because if they do not agree to VPF's promotion proposal, they will not know when they will be able to appear in the most prestigious professional playground in Vietnam.
PVF-CAND will play at home in Hung Yen.
With the presence of PVF-CAND, V-League 2025 - 2026 will still have 14 participating teams. Therefore, VPF will not need to organize a draw to rearrange the match schedule. The number of matches will remain the same (a total of 26 rounds with 182 matches), all organization work will still take place on schedule.
V-League 2025 - 2026 will still have two relegation slots. The champion team will be awarded 5 billion VND. The runners-up and third-place teams will be awarded 3 billion VND and 1.5 billion VND respectively. This season's V-League will kick off on August 15 with matches in round 1. The opening ceremony will take place at a specific match and will be announced by VPF in the near future.
Because the deadline for player and home stadium registration has expired on August 1, VPF will facilitate an extension for PVF-CAND Club until 5:00 p.m. on August 7. At this time, the team is urgently recruiting players to promptly upgrade the squad.
PVF-CAND has also submitted a proposal to VPF and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to temporarily use the main stadium of the PVF Youth Football Training Center as their home stadium this season. At the same time, they have committed to upgrading the infrastructure by installing additional mobile stands to ensure the minimum capacity as required by the tournament's regulations. Currently, the stadium has all the necessary functional rooms and a guaranteed grass surface. However, the stadium only has a capacity of about 3,600 seats, not meeting the minimum number of 10,000 seats required by the tournament's regulations.
VPF and VFF will have a written response to PVF-CAND Club in the near future. If approved, on August 17, PVF-CAND will host Song Lam Nghe An in round 1 of V-League 2025 - 2026 at home in Hung Yen.
