Valak returns in 'The Nun 2'

The Nun , the "golden goose" of the horror franchise The Conjuring , has just released a trailer for the sequel with the scares that are the "specialty" of this series, and at the same time revealed the appearance of the demon Valak. Filmmaker Michael Chaves is in the director's chair of the project. The Nun 2 is produced by two filmmakers James Wan and Peter Safran through their film companies Atomic Monster and The Safran Company.

The film is set in the 1960s in a French school, where Maurice (Jonas Bloquet) discovers many unusual things until she discovers the presence of demons. Actress Taissa Farmiga returns once again as Sister Irene, when she learns that her friend is possessed by a demon, she goes to France to investigate the incident that has terrified the students there.

The Nun 2 is the ninth film in The Conjuring horror franchise. The first The Nun film, released in 2018, about the origin of Valak, was the "blockbuster" of the series, grossing over $365.5 million worldwide.

Filmmaker Michael Chaves previously directed the horror film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (released in 2021), helping the series' total revenue reach $2 billion worldwide.

New Line Cinema, the producer of The Nun 2 , has planned many other projects in The Conjuring "universe" in the future. For example, The Conjuring: Last Rites is the final film in the main story of The Conjuring (first created by James Wan in 2013) starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The Nun 2 is scheduled to be released on September 8.
