According to the report of the Provincial Police, in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole province had 273 road traffic accidents, killing 61 people, injuring 271 people, and causing property damage estimated at 4.9 billion VND.
Of which, Thai Nguyen area (before the merger) recorded 245 cases, 50 deaths, 240 injuries; Bac Kan area recorded 28 cases, 11 deaths, 31 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents decreased by 68 cases, the number of injuries decreased by 66 people, but the number of deaths increased by 3 cases.
Worryingly, violations of traffic safety laws are still common. Recently, through the people's reflection, the authorities discovered Mr. NHQ (Tuan Chau ward, Quang Ninh) driving a car with license plate 14C-X07.XX in reverse on the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway, through the province. This behavior not only seriously violates the law, but also directly threatens the safety of vehicles in circulation, potentially causing a particularly serious accident.
On the morning of July 24, the Traffic Police Department of Thai Nguyen Province issued a fine to Mr. NHQ for driving in reverse on the highway. According to regulations, Mr. Q. was fined 35 million VND and had 10 points deducted from his driver's license.
The Traffic Police Department of Thai Nguyen Province recommends that drivers absolutely do not reverse on the highway to ensure safety for themselves and other road users.
Traffic police worked with Mr. NKC residing in group 5, Phan Dinh Phung ward, driving car with license plate 20A-199.XX. |
Not only violating traffic safety regulations, many collisions also recorded the situation of the vehicle driver not cooperating, even running away after causing the accident - a condemnable behavior. At about 5:37 p.m. on July 24, 2025, at 479 Luong Ngoc Quyen Street, Group 8, Phan Dinh Phung Ward (in front of Thai Nguyen Central Hospital), a series of traffic collisions occurred.
At that time, Mr. NKC (residing in Group 5, Phan Dinh Phung Ward) was driving car with license plate 20A-199.xx in reverse towards Dong Quang roundabout - North-South intersection when he collided with car with license plate 20A-563.xx driven by Mr. GTD (residing in Trai Cau Commune) going in the same direction behind.
After the collision, Mr. GTD stood in front of the car and asked Mr. NKC to get out of the car to resolve the matter. However, Mr. C. did not comply and continued to reverse the car, lightly colliding with another vehicle, then drove the car straight forward, pushing Mr. D. onto the hood and continuing to move towards Dong Quang roundabout.
On the way to escape, Mr. C's car continued to collide with a motorbike with license plate 20B2-283.xx driven by Ms. NHT (residing in Tan Thanh commune) going in the opposite direction. The incident caused Ms. T. to suffer soft tissue injuries; two cars and a motorbike were slightly damaged.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Traffic Police Department of Thai Nguyen Province Police quickly deployed forces to investigate and verify the vehicle and driver involved in the incident. Through initial investigation, the driver's behavior showed signs of intentionally disturbing public order.
On the OTOFUN Thai Nguyen forum, there are many unsightly images of people inside and outside the province participating in traffic that have been posted and received many comments and suggestions from the online community. Violations of the Road Traffic Law, lack of awareness when participating in traffic, and uncivilized behavior when traffic collisions occur are all strongly condemned.
The increase in penalties under Decree No. 168 is attracting public attention. Many people agree with this policy, believing that strict penalties for intentional and dangerous acts are necessary to increase deterrence and raise awareness of law compliance among traffic participants.
However, for the regulations in Decree 168 to be truly effective, the whole community needs to join hands. In particular, each citizen needs to enhance their responsibility, voluntarily comply with the law on traffic safety and order, contributing to building a culture of safe and civilized traffic.
