Nguyen Van Toan suffered a knee injury from the ASEAN Cup 2024. Initially, he only needed to rest, not surgery.

However, each time he returned to play, the injury recurred, forcing Van Toan to undergo surgery on the doctor's advice. According to medical experts, the striker born in 1996 needs at least 6 months to fully recover. This means he will miss the entire first leg of the 2025/26 V.League.

The loss of Nguyen Van Toan is a big loss for the team from Thanh Nam. In the departure ceremony on the morning of August 14, coach Vu Hong Viet admitted that the absence of Van Toan and Xuan Son was a big loss for Nam Dinh's attack, forcing him to make changes in tactics.
