Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Ve - Vice Chairman of the Science and Technology Council of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company presented and discussed at the workshop.

The event was attended by leaders of the Agriculture and Environment sector of An Giang province, local scientists and extension workers, and more than 250 typical rice farmers in the Mekong Delta, demonstrating the strong influence of the program right from the first day of implementation.

Mekong Delta – A large rice granary but the land is getting sicker

The Mekong Delta has long been the country’s rice granary, contributing more than half of Vietnam’s rice output and more than 90% of its rice exports. However, behind the golden seasons are a series of challenges weighing on soil health. Acidification and organic degradation are becoming increasingly serious due to prolonged intensive farming, sharply reduced alluvial resources, and residual straw causing organic poisoning. In addition, increased salinity intrusion and greenhouse gas emissions from rice production – accounting for more than 50% of the total emissions of the agricultural sector – put the rice production ecosystem at risk.

The Science and Technology Council of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company advises and introduces smart farming solutions to farmers.

Soil “diseases” not only reduce rice yield and quality, but also directly impact the income and livelihoods of millions of farmers.

“Green Journey” – The long but sustainable path that Binh Dien chooses

Mr. Ngo Van Dong - General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company affirmed: "Green Journey is not only a program but also a long-term commitment of Binh Dien in working with farmers to green rice production, towards emission reduction and sustainable development."

The program is built on the successful foundation of Smart Rice Cultivation Adapting to Climate Change that Binh Dien has persistently implemented since 2016. The program's consistent philosophy is the value chain: Healthy Soil - Healthy Crops - Green Products - Green Consumption, in which "Healthy Soil" is considered the starting point and also the decisive factor for all changes.

General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company Ngo Van Dong presented a package of Dau Trau Bio-Calcium fertilizer products and technical solutions for the program "Green Journey - Healthy Soil - Healthy Plants" to farmers.

Dau Trau Bio – Technological solutions for green agriculture

The focus of the program is the Dau Trau Bio product line including Dau Trau Bio-Calcium, Bio Lua 1 and Bio Lua 2. All products apply advanced spore-forming microorganism coating technology, helping microorganisms survive persistently in adverse conditions and only become active when encountering a suitable environment.

When introduced into the soil, the beneficial microorganisms in the product help to quickly decompose straw, limit organic poisoning; improve soil pH, reduce acidity; increase absorption capacity so that the soil retains nutrients better and adjust the Ca/Mg balance to help restore soil health. As a result, farmers can reduce the amount of chemical fertilizers used, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The results of the model in An Giang showed many positive signs: soil pH increased significantly, the amount of pure nitrogen was reduced by about 35 kg/ha, rice yield increased by 550 kg/ha and average profit increased by about 8.5 million VND/ha. These are convincing evidences that soil improvement is not only good for the environment but also brings clear economic value to farmers.

General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company Ngo Van Dong spoke at the launching ceremony of the program "Green Journey - Healthy Soil - Healthy Plants".

Large-scale deployment – Spreading sustainable farming knowledge

During the 2025–2026 Winter-Spring crop, Binh Dien plans to organize at least 50 workshops in the Mekong Delta, the Eastern, Central and Central Highlands regions, directly reaching at least 5,000 farmers. At each workshop, the program will select farmers to join in building practical demonstration models right in their fields. From these models, success stories will be recorded and spread for replication on a wider scale.

The program will continue to expand to key rice growing areas in the Northern region.

Accompanying the Government's strategic projects

“Green Journey” is also Binh Dien’s commitment to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement national goals: Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice Project of reducing emissions in crop cultivation for the period 2025–2035 National green growth strategy to 2050

Not only stopping at supplying fertilizers, Binh Dien is directly participating in the process of converting production models, contributing to creating green, modern and environmentally responsible agriculture.

The close coordination between enterprises – state – scientists – cooperatives – farmers is the foundation that creates strength for the “Green Journey”.

The ceremony ended in an exciting atmosphere. Many farmers expressed their hope that the program would “go to the end and do it thoroughly”, bringing about real changes in the fields, not only in An Giang but also in the entire Mekong Delta region.

Journey to sow faith and green color for Vietnam's rice fields

With “Green Journey”, Binh Dien continues to affirm its sustainable development philosophy: If you want healthy plants, you must start with healthy soil. If you want sustainable agriculture, you must start today.

Starting from An Giang, “Green Journey – Healthy Land, Healthy Plants” is not only an event, but also a strong commitment that Binh Dien will accompany farmers for a long time on the path of greening Vietnam's rice production.
