Improving nutrition and physical strength for children in remote areas, especially ethnic minority areas, is the responsibility of the whole society, from the government to the people. Action programs focus on solving malnutrition, ensuring a balanced and reasonable diet; reducing the rate of stunted and underweight children in the golden period of physical development, creating conditions for children to develop best both physically and mentally.
A meal with adequate micronutrients not only helps improve physical strength but also serves as a foundation for learning, personality formation and sustainable development. Within the framework of the "Nutrition for poor and disabled children" program for the period 2022-2027 launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , the Provincial Red Cross Society has actively implemented a school nutrition milk program for children in difficult circumstances. Activities are carried out through mobilizing businesses, organizations and philanthropists inside and outside the province to participate in regular support in the form of sponsorship, scholarships, milk, bicycles and school supplies.
Typically, in 2024, the Provincial Red Cross Association coordinated with Nutifood Nutrition Joint Stock Company to organize 23 donation sessions with 2,471 cartons of milk for children in remote and disadvantaged communes in the province, with a total value of nearly 1.3 billion VND. Of which, Quang La Commune Kindergarten and Dan Chu Commune Kindergarten (Ha Long City) are two schools that benefited, with more than 300 students receiving milk support to improve their health and physical strength.
Not only stopping at providing milk, the Provincial Red Cross Society also called for funding to repair and upgrade the boarding kitchen at Cao Son Kindergarten, Hoanh Mo Commune (Binh Lieu District), helping to improve the quality of meals and living conditions of students.
Since the beginning of 2025, the Provincial Red Cross has coordinated with sponsors to present gifts and nutritional milk to over 12,750 children in remote areas, with a total value of 4.1 billion VND. From now until the end of 2025, the program will continue to be maintained and expanded, targeting poor and disabled children in border and island areas, with regular mobilization of support resources.
It can be affirmed that the Program "Nutrition for poor and disabled children" has been receiving the attention of Party committees, authorities, people and the support of many charitable organizations and individuals, creating conditions for the Red Cross at all levels to effectively implement.
At the same time, the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans (PWD-TMC) has promoted propaganda, raised awareness and community responsibility in caring for and supporting children with disabilities, orphans and children in difficult circumstances in remote areas. The Association has mobilized many socialized resources to award scholarships, bicycles, school supplies, and organized monthly sponsorship programs, donated gifts and thousands of cartons of milk to disadvantaged children, contributing to reducing malnutrition in ethnic minority areas.
To improve the effectiveness of child care and protection, there needs to be unified direction among all levels, sectors, and socio -political organizations from the provincial to the grassroots level. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda, change behaviors, and nutritional care habits in the community; organize training courses on malnutrition prevention, maternal and child health care, help improve awareness, improve physical condition, and ensure a sustainable future for the younger generation, especially in areas with many difficulties.
