Thanks to that, Mr. Ellison surpassed Mr. Elon Musk, who owned 385 billion USD at the same time, to become the richest person in the world .

Oracle has just announced its latest quarterly financial report (ending August 31), recording a 12% increase in revenue to $14.9 billion, with a net profit of $2.93 billion. Notably, the cloud infrastructure segment continues to be the main driver with $3.3 billion in revenue, up 55% year-on-year. In the previous quarter, the growth rate also reached 52%.
The company expects cloud infrastructure revenue to reach $18 billion in fiscal 2026, up 77% year-over-year, and continue to grow to $32 billion, $73 billion, $114 billion, and $144 billion over the next four years. For the second fiscal quarter (September 1 to November 30), Oracle forecasts revenue growth of 14-16%.
During the quarter, Oracle signed several major contracts, including an agreement with OpenAI to develop a 4.5 GW data center in the US. In addition, the company also revealed that Google's Gemini AI models will be deployed on its cloud infrastructure.
CEO Safra Catz said that in just one quarter, Oracle closed four billion-dollar contracts with three different customers. Next October, the company will launch the Oracle AI Database service, which allows AI models from OpenAI and other companies to run directly on customer data.
Earlier in August, Oracle also announced that it had integrated OpenAI's GPT-5 into cloud applications, strengthening its position in the AI race.
Oracle shares jumped 27% in after-hours trading on September 9, up 45% year-to-date, with a 41% gain on September 9 alone, thanks to high expectations for its cloud computing business.
The Oracle and AI boom has also helped fuel the global tech wave. Nvidia is now the world’s most valuable company, with a valuation of more than $4 trillion. Microsoft has also reached that mark. The eight most valuable stocks in the S&P 500 are all technology stocks, tied to the race to build an AI-powered future.
Tesla shares, on the other hand, have fallen 13% since the start of the year. The company's board recently proposed a huge compensation package for billionaire Elon Musk if he achieves ambitious goals, which could make him the first trillionaire in history.
Elon Musk became the world's richest person for the first time in 2021. He has lost the title twice before: once to Bernard Arnault (LVMH) and once to Jeff Bezos (Amazon). Musk has maintained this position for many years thanks to his assets tied to Tesla and SpaceX.
