On May 30, Thot Not district solemnly held a ceremony to receive the National Architectural and Artistic Relic Ranking Certificate for Thuan Hung Communal House. In the photo: Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the decision and the relic ranking certificate to local leaders and the Thuan Hung Communal House Worshiping Board.
Thuan Hung Communal House was formed around 1835, initially just a small temple made of trees and leaves. In 1934, Tan Hung village and Tan Thuan Dong village merged into Thuan Hung village, Tan Hung Communal House was moved to merge with Tan Thuan Dong Communal House, named Thuan Hung Communal House. The communal house has a "Nhat" shaped architecture, the communal house roof is divided into 2 floors, the main hall roof is divided into 3 floors, covered with tiles (photo).
The pillars, slats, doors, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, worshiping bells, and worshiping rituals of the communal house are elaborately carved. In the photo: The communal house's God worshiping room with the royal decree "Bon Canh Thanh Hoang" of the 5th year of King Tu Duc, 1852.
To honor the ancestors who reclaimed land, established a career, and built the communal house, Thuan Hung Communal House worships Tien Hien, Mr. Le Van Lieu, and Hau Hien, Mr. Lieu's son-in-law, Mr. Thai Van Son.
Every year, Dinh Thuan Hung organizes the Thuong Dien Festival on the 17th, 18th, and 19th of the fourth lunar month and the Ha Dien Festival on the 18th and 19th of the eleventh lunar month.
What makes the architecture of Thuan Hung Communal House different from other communal houses in Can Tho is the unique art of ceramic mosaics with letters and patterns. In the photo: Ceramic mosaics at Than Nong altar.
What's more special is that the walls of the communal house are decorated with murals with many historical and cultural themes of Vietnam, the drawings are very beautiful.
