On September 29, the Vietnamese Dancesports delegation made a strong impression at the WDSF Vagos, Portugal Open organized by the World Dancesport Federation (WDSF) with outstanding achievements in two important events.

At the WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin Adult, the athlete pair Phan Hien - Thu Huong excellently passed 3 rounds, entered the Semi-finals and ranked in the Top 12 of the World Open Championship.
Meanwhile, in the WDSF World Championship Latin Senior 2, the athlete pair Pham Trung Hoa - Nguyen My Trang surprisingly entered the Quarterfinals, ranking in the Top 16 of the WDSF World Championship Latin Senior 2.
This is also the only Asian representative to advance to the quarter-finals of this event, surpassing many strong opponents from Europe and America.
The above achievements once again affirm the persistent efforts and increasingly high professional level of Vietnamese dancesport athletes in the international arena.
Notably, international referee Khanh Thi also participated in the referee panel of the WDSF World Championship Latin Senior II - a testament to the growing prestige and position of Vietnamese dancesport.

Sharing from Portugal, referee Khanh Thi - Director of the Institute of Culture and Arts at the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) was moved and proud when the Vietnamese dancesport team completed their goals and achieved high results in this tournament in Portugal. The athletes maintained their competitive form and continued to improve their ranking on the global rankings of the World Dancesport Federation, bringing Vietnamese dancesport to the international map.
Dancesport athlete Nguyen My Trang, Middle Age 2, shared with VietNamNet: “Both of us and the entire Vietnamese sports delegation are extremely surprised and proud of this achievement. This is the second time we have had the honor of representing Vietnam at the Latin World Championship Middle Age 2. If last time we only stopped at the second round with a 42nd position, this time reaching the Quarterfinals and ranking 16th is a very big step forward. We will continue to train to achieve higher results, thereby inspiring the middle-aged community and spreading the beauty of dancesport."

Currently, Phan Hien and Thu Huong are members of the Vietnam National Team with an impressive record of achievements: Southeast Asia Champion from 2022 to present; Silver medal at the 2025 Asian Championship; Top 3 World Showdance Champion in 2025; 1 of the 50 highest-ranked couples on the World Rankings.
The athlete duo Pham Trung Hoa - Nguyen My Trang also continuously reaped international achievements, including: Gold medal in the Middle Age II category at the World Masters Games 2025 (Taiwan, China); Bronze medal in Middle Age I at Nice Open 2025 (France), Bronze medals in Middle Age I & II at Cyprus Open 2025; Top 6 Middle Age II at WDSF Hradec Kralove Open 2024 (Czech Republic); Champion of Latin Middle Age II category A at the National KVTT Championship & Cup 2024.
