The Foreign Ministry said the attack in Dak Lak was a violation of the law, and that suggestions of "ethnic elements" in the incident were completely wrong.
At today's press conference, answering questions from Phoenix TV about some opinions that the cause of the incident in Dak Lak had "ethnic factors", Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that "we completely reject these wrong opinions".
"This is a serious, organized violation of the law, causing disorder and will be handled according to the law," said Ms. Hang.
Previously, during the discussion session of the United Nations General Assembly on June 22-23 on implementing the counter-terrorism strategy, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Dang Hoang Giang assessed that terrorism continues to be a threat to peace , stability and development globally.
Referring to the incident in Dak Lak, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that this was an organized act of terrorism targeting government offices, officials and civilians. He affirmed that organizations and individuals who directly carried out or were behind the incident would be punished in accordance with the level of violation.

In the early morning of June 11, two groups of people armed with guns and homemade weapons attacked government headquarters and people on the streets of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur, Dak Lak, killing 9 people and injuring many others. Authorities have prosecuted 90 defendants for terrorism against the people's government, failing to report crimes, concealing crimes, organizing and brokering for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam. Dak Lak police are especially looking for 6 defendants who participated in the crime and have fled the area.
Authorities seized 23 guns, two grenades, nearly 1,200 bullets, 15 detonators, 1.2 kg of explosives, a silencer, two scopes, a set of training mine models, 30 knives, 10 FULRO flags and many vehicles and equipment used to commit the crime.
