From July 22-25, in Hanoi, Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) - Ministry of Science and Technology organized VNNIC Internet Conference 2025 with the theme "Breakthrough era with industrial Internet". The event gathered more than 400 leaders, CEOs and leading experts from home and abroad, affirming the central role of industrial Internet in the digital transformation and modernization of the country. Since 2022, the annual event series "VNNIC Internet Conference" organized by VNNIC has become a large technology forum with high professional quality, connecting domestic and international experts in Internet technology and engineering.
In 2025, the conference continued to affirm its prestige with the era-specific theme of Industrial Internet - the core foundation for innovation in growth models and development of national digital infrastructure. Speaking at the plenary session on the morning of July 25, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of VNNIC, emphasized that Vietnam is in an important transition of digital infrastructure, from traditional connection platforms to connection of all things: devices, sensors, connection systems, smart manufacturing.
Industrial Internet is not only a trend, but also a core foundation for growth model innovation, production modernization, smart urban development, smart transportation, smart healthcare ... This requires the Internet to be bigger - faster - smarter - safer, closely linked between Network infrastructure: IPv6, 5G, IX, Digital resources... Services and data: Cloud, AI, IoT, secure DNS, Management policies - open standards - international cooperation. "We believe that a strong, open, reliable Internet infrastructure is a prerequisite for the development of an autonomous, innovative, globally connected Vietnamese industrial Internet," said Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang.

Overview of VNNIC Internet Conference 2025.
This year's conference includes many diverse activities such as: Workshop for students with the theme "The role of youth in Internet governance and the development of the industrial Internet"; 2 technical workshops on DNS and IPv6 only, for state agency officials and businesses; 2 thematic sessions on developing new generation Internet infrastructure, IPv6 - the foundation for IIoT and safe and reliable Internet operations in the era of industrial Internet.
In particular, the plenary session on July 25 was an important highlight of the conference, with the participation of globally famous speakers: Prof. Jun Murai - "Father of the Japanese Internet"; Mr. Bill Woodcock, Secretary General of Packet Clearing House; Mr. Sutrisno Xu, Director of Business Development for Southeast Asia, Pegatron Group.
The speakers shared their vision of a society connected to all things, cloud, data, Internet infrastructure, and strategies for the 5G revolution in the era of industrial Internet.
The high-level discussion in the plenary session on the topic "Solutions for industrial Internet development, connecting science and technology - innovation - digital transformation" discussed solutions to promote the development of Vietnam's industrial Internet in an effective, practical and sustainable manner.
Shaping Vietnam's Internet Infrastructure: Strong - Open - Reliable
Sharing on the sidelines of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of VNNIC, said that to be ready to meet the huge connection needs, low latency and high reliability of industrial Internet applications, Vietnam's digital infrastructure must have "super large capacity, super wide bandwidth, universal, sustainable, green, smart, open and secure". Industrial Internet is opening a period of strong application of technologies such as 5G/6G, IoT, Cloud, Big Data, AI in production, management and life. This is an important foundation for Vietnam to comprehensively transform digitally and rise strongly in the digital age.
According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Vietnam's IPv6 network was officially launched in 2013, with the participation of major providers such as Viettel, VNPT... We have gradually developed Vietnam's IPv6, achieving many achievements when entering the global top 10, at some point reaching the 5th position globally. However, in the context of the industrial Internet boom, each person owns an average of 4 IoT devices, switching to IPv6 only is an inevitable step.
Therefore, VNNIC has proposed a roadmap for IPv6 only conversion, in which the period 2025-2030 is the pilot, replication, acceleration phase and the goal is to comprehensively convert, and stop using IPv4 by 2032. "IPv6 only is not just technology, but innovation, creating new values, faster, safer, flatter and more economical", Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang commented.
In line with Vietnam's orientation and strategy on developing digital infrastructure and digital technology according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo dated December 22, 2024, VNNIC has been implementing major goals to develop Vietnam's Internet, Vietnam's Internet resources, and industrial Internet. These include many major initiatives such as: Building an Internet data lab to serve the exploitation, sharing, and development of open data and specialized data on Internet resources; a new Internet technology lab to test and support the deployment of new technologies such as IPv6 only, IoT, Cloud, modern DNS, digital identification, and the Internet of Things - Industrial Internet; integrating AI technology, big data, and open data in monitoring activities, user support, and domain name resource management...
Maintain safe operation of national infrastructure such as DNS server system, VNIX, digital identification service; strive to bring the ".vn" domain name into the top 20-30 globally in terms of scale, efficiency of use and presence in the digital economy. VNNIC also actively participates in international forums, promotes global cooperation, and contributes to the development of a self-sufficient, modern, globally connected Vietnamese industrial Internet infrastructure./.
