The tourism and related services industry continues to be a bright spot with revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 9 months of 2025 estimated at VND 624,400 billion, up 14.8% over the same period in 2024. In particular, Da Nang is leading with an increase of 18.1%, followed by Ho Chi Minh City (up 18.0%), Can Tho (up 14.2%), Hai Phong (up 12.0%) and Hanoi (up 11.9%). The excitement of the tourist market has directly boosted tourism industry revenue. According to statistics, tourism revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 69,600 billion, up 20.5% over the same period last year. This is the result of the efforts of many localities in actively implementing stimulus programs and developing new tourism products. At the same time, favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion and advertising programs, and activities to celebrate major holidays have also contributed to attracting more international visitors to Vietnam.
In terms of means of transport, arrivals by air reached 13.1 million, accounting for 85.2% of the total number of visitors and increasing by 21.9% over the same period in 2024. Arrivals by road reached 2.1 million (up 19.4%) and 190,600 arrivals by sea (up 15.1%).
Asia continues to be Vietnam's largest tourist market with 12.24 million arrivals, up 20.9%. Next is Europe with 1.9 million arrivals (up 34.9%), America with nearly 800,000 arrivals (up 8.5%), Australia with 445,000 arrivals (up 13.7%) and Africa with 40,700 arrivals (up 4.7%).
In the first 9 months of 2025, the 5 largest markets sending visitors to Vietnam were: China, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States and Japan, of which China led with nearly 3.9 million visitors. Other markets also recorded impressive growth including: Russia (up 273%), Philippines (up 192.2%), Cambodia (up 150.4%), Poland (up 146%) and India (up 142.9%).
Mr. Pham Van Thuy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that this year, the tourism industry aims to welcome 25 million international visitors. To attract international visitors, Vietnam will have to create products that tourists need. The tastes of international tourists when coming to each region are different. Coming to Vietnam, international visitors are interested in culinary tourism, natural landscapes, especially beaches and climate. These are the "existing" things of Vietnamese tourism that international visitors need. On this basis, Vietnam needs to change the identity of Vietnamese tourism to properly meet the needs of international visitors. Then, when there are new, suitable tourism products, relevant parties need to coordinate, promote and attract tourists to Vietnam.
The international tourist season is from October this year to April next year. From now until the end of 2025, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has many programs to promote tourism, coordinate with businesses and tourism management agencies in localities in key markets that have been oriented according to specific plans from the beginning of the year. Through tourism promotion programs, along with the coordination of the Vietnamese Embassy in countries that are key tourism markets of Vietnam, tourists will have confidence to come to Vietnam. In addition, Vietnam always focuses on building a safe destination brand, ensuring security and having many tourism products that international tourists want to experience when exploring Vietnam.
