On May 15, candidate for the position of President of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Ms. Annalena Baerbock, former German Foreign Minister, held dialogue sessions with the Asia-Pacific Group and all members of the General Assembly to share her vision and priorities if elected.
Ms. Annalena Baerbock affirmed that she will promote reform of the United Nations and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensure the transparency of the selection process for the new Secretary-General, strengthen response to climate change and ensure human rights.

Speaking at the dialogue session and in a private exchange, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations, highly appreciated Germany's strong commitment to promoting multilateralism and making practical contributions to the activities of the United Nations, and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to bilateral relations with Germany and always actively and closely cooperates with Germany at multilateral forums.
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang suggested that the candidate for President of the United Nations General Assembly promote issues that Vietnam is interested in during his term, such as upholding and respecting international law and the United Nations Charter and ensuring a transparent United Nations reform process with full participation and contributions from all members.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam supports the vision and priorities of Ms. Annalena Baerbock and is ready to continue to cooperate and actively support in all aspects with the President of the United Nations General Assembly and the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including sending seconded staff, to achieve common goals.
