Vietnam in top 10 safest destinations in Asia

The international organization for diplomatic training Best Diplomats has just announced the 10 safest destinations in Asia, in which Vietnam is ranked 8th. This list is built on 3 criteria: countries with low crime rates, stable political situation and safe living environment.

“Safety must be the top priority when choosing a travel destination,” Best Diplomats emphasized in the opening of the article. Accordingly, the selected countries are the safest destinations. Asia including: Singapore, Japan, Bhutan, Malaysia, Qatar, Taiwan (China), Kuwait, Vietnam, South Korea, Mongolia.

Ranked 8th in the list of safest places in Asia, Best Diplomats highly appreciated Vietnam for its beautiful landscape, diverse culture and rich cuisine .

According to Best Diplomats, in 2024, Vietnam's peace index was 1.745; meanwhile, the crime index nationwide was 41.8 and the safety index was 58.2. These figures further strengthen the prestige and reputation of the Vietnamese tourism brand in the international market.

However, when visiting Vietnam, tourists should also be cautious and pay attention to their surroundings because pickpockets and scams still occur in some places. If you are fully prepared with skills and street awareness, tourists can easily overcome these small challenges.

This organization also believes that one of the safest tourist destinations in Vietnam that tourists should visit is Ha Long Bay. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its limestone islands and crystal clear waters. The bay is a popular destination for beach lovers and kayakers.

Topping the list of the top 10 safest destinations in Asia, according to Best Diplomats, Singapore is well-liked for its strict enforcement of laws and zero-tolerance policies towards crime. The streets are always clean, and the public transport system (including bus and subway networks) operates efficiently, which also contributes to attracting many tourists to visit.

Coming in at number two on the list, Japan has built a reputation for being a country with very little violent crime and minimal theft. In addition, some cities like Osaka are also known for the friendliness of their locals and safe public spaces.

Bhutan is the third country on the list. Citing a recent survey, Best Diplomats reported that 82.81% of people feel safe walking alone during the day and 60.29% feel safe at night. Additionally, visitors can feel comfortable exploring the country’s stunning landscapes and cultural heritage.
