Vietnam and UAE prioritize promoting substantive defense cooperation

During his visit and work at the Dubai Airshow 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, met with Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, Deputy Minister of National Defense of the UAE.

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for sending a delegation to attend the Dubai Airshow 2025 and the International Air Chiefs Conference (DIACC) 2025, emphasizing that this is an opportunity for the two sides to increase exchanges and promote cooperation.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his pleasure to meet again with Lieutenant General, Deputy Minister of Defense of UAE, and thanked him for the respectful, thoughtful and warm welcome that the Lieutenant General personally and the UAE Ministry of Defense gave to the delegation.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated the UAE Ministry of Defense on successfully organizing the Dubai International Air Show 2025 and the International Air Chiefs Conference (DIACC) 2025, affirming that this series of events continues to affirm the UAE's position as one of the leading aviation-defense industry centers in the region and the world , demonstrating the UAE's strategic vision, professional organizational capacity and international prestige.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the positive developments in defense cooperation between the two countries in recent times, notably in the following areas: delegation exchanges at all levels; active support and sending delegations to attend international defense exhibitions; conferences and seminars organized by each side...

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides increase defense consultations, organize defense policy dialogues at the Deputy Minister level; promote the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Industry Cooperation; strengthen cooperation in the defense industry, including cooperation between the General Department of Defense Industry, Viettel Group and major defense industry corporations of the UAE; and at the same time, request the UAE Ministry of Defense to pay attention to promoting the establishment of the Vietnam Defense Attaché Office in the UAE.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien respectfully invited the Lieutenant General and the UAE Minister of Defense to visit Vietnam and attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition scheduled to be held in late 2026 in Hanoi.

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi acknowledged the contents just mentioned by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, saying that he will actively promote and concretize the contents discussed by the leaders of the two sides.

Previously, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien paid a courtesy call to UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the occasion of his visit, work and attendance at the Dubai Airshow 2025 in the UAE.
