Vietcombank warns of risks when customers share information

Báo Kiên GiangBáo Kiên Giang01/06/2023

Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam ( Vietcombank ) has just issued a warning about risks when customers share digital banking service login information with third parties.

Vietcombank said that currently on the market, there are a number of personal finance and expense management applications that provide the feature of automatically querying bank account information. Accordingly, when users provide their username and password, the application will use this information to access the customer's digital banking service, retrieve information about accounts, transactions, balances and transfer them to the financial management and expense management application.

Providing digital banking service information to third parties puts customers at risk of having their service information stolen and losing money in their accounts.

Therefore, to ensure safety, Vietcombank recommends 4 contents to customers: Vietcombank does not have a service linked to any personal finance management or spending management application on the market; customers do not share digital banking service login information with any other individual or organization. Because sharing digital banking service login information poses a risk of service information being stolen and money being lost in bank accounts; customers only access VCB Digibank service from Vietcombank's official website or Vietcombank's VCB Digibank application; customers should refer to risk warnings and safe transaction instructions as recommended by Vietcombank.

When suspecting that VCB Digibank service information has been stolen, customers should temporarily lock the service (by texting VCB KHOA DIGIBANK to 6167) or change the service password and immediately contact Vietcombank's switchboard at 1900545413 or go to the nearest Vietcombank transaction point (during business hours) for timely support.
