On November 15, Cao Bang Provincial Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and issued a 4-month temporary detention order against Nong Van Au (born in 1986), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lam Dai Phuc Group Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Dak Lak province; Nguyen Thi Vinh (born in 1991, Au's wife), Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the above company (both from Dak Lak) for fraud and property appropriation.

On the same day, the above procedural decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy of Cao Bang province.
Previously, Cao Bang Provincial Police received a complaint from a number of citizens that Lam Van Au and Nguyen Thi Vinh had signs of fraud and property appropriation.
Conducting an investigation, the police determined that Lam Dai Phuc Group Joint Stock Company, owned by Au and Vinh, was always in a state of loss. This couple used tricks to hold seminars and conferences to introduce and call for capital contributions to real estate investment projects... with the promise of high interest rates.
When the investors transferred money to Au and his wife, both of them used the money for other personal purposes, did not fulfill their commitments in the contract and were unable to pay.
From 2019 to 2022, Au and his wife attracted nearly 300 billion VND in investment capital into Lam Dai Phuc Company from investors across the country, of which Cao Bang province alone mobilized over 83 billion VND from many people.
Initially, the investigation agency determined that Au and Vinh had appropriated over 155 billion VND, and were unable to repay the investors because the introduced projects were all fake.
The police then summoned the couple to the police station for questioning, but both subjects had left the area.
Using professional measures, Cao Bang Provincial Police identified the whereabouts of Au and Vinh when they were renting a room at a hotel in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi .
At the police station, the Au couple admitted all their crimes.
