Martial arts masters are suspended and should not let Karate "contribute" to defaming the spirit of martial arts.

The story of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, a martial artist, who is serving a suspended sentence for fraud and property appropriation but is still the Chairman of the Nghe An Karate Federation, has just had a new twist that is even more unbelievable than the story of him being the "Chairman".

On May 25, 2023, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee signed Decision No. 1476 to award a Certificate of Merit to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of Nghe An Karatedo Association (at this time not yet renamed the Federation) for his many achievements in the process of building and developing Nghe An Karatedo Association.

This is of course a certificate of merit that is not in accordance with the law; the 2003 Law on Emulation and Commendation is currently in effect. And this certificate of merit is also embarrassing for both the person who “accidentally signed” it and many other related people.

But the biggest mistake in this case is Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan himself. Mr. Tuan should have known how to respect himself, be ashamed, and loudly say “I am very unworthy” when he had the idea of proposing a reward for himself or someone in his organization proposing a reward for him.

But he accepted because he thought he deserved it!

And not only that, in the past, Mr. Tuan also stamped the organization's round seal and signed his name on countless certificates of merit and belt exams for Karate coaches and students in Nghe An province. That is an insult to Karate coaches and students in Nghe An in particular and the martial arts community in the country in general.

Gichin Funakoshi (Japan), founder of the Shotokan – Karate – Do school and considered the “father” of modern Karate, left his disciples around the world 20 teachings that disciples, especially black belts of this martial art (including Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan) must know by heart.

In which, the 3rd of the 20 articles clearly states: "Karate is an aid to justice".

However, Karate, through the image and actions of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Karate Federation of Nghe An province, has been showing that not only is there no "assistance" but also "contributes" to the destruction and distortion of the spirit of martial arts, while affecting and damaging the image of Nghe An province.

And this sabotage must be stopped by the authorities at all levels of Nghe An province promptly stepping in to comprehensively inspect the activities and personnel of the Nghe An Karate Federation to rectify and thoroughly handle violations and shortcomings in all aspects.

First of all, we must urgently revoke the Certificate of Merit that the People's Committee of Nghe An province "accidentally" awarded to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan as well as review his status as "Chairman" of the Nghe An Karate Federation!

It is difficult to blame the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghe An province. Because before this certificate of merit reaches him, it must go through a whole system of proposals, approvals, and examinations… from the grassroots to the advisory department. The responsibilities of these departments must be clarified.
