A quick report from the Department of Education and Training said that 66 candidates were absent from the Literature exam compared to the number of candidates initially registered, including 24 candidates exempted from the Literature exam and 42 candidates who did not take the exam. Of the 42 candidates who did not take the exam, 27 were independent candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 generaleducation program, the rest were absent without reason.
The first exam session at 28 exam locations all took place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations, with no violations of exam regulations.

The reading comprehension section helped me review basic knowledge of grammar. I did quite well in the social discussion section related to practical issues, giving me more opportunities to express my views on the current changes in the country. No matter what the result is, I am confident because I tried my best.

Meanwhile, at the exam site of Nguyen Trai High School (Tuy Hoa City), candidate Pham Anh Duong, class 12A11, Nguyen Hue High School, said: "This year's part 2 is a bit difficult, the requirements are too general, making it difficult for me to form a plan to write, but mainly based on the text and the period with many changes."
Nguyen Van Khoa from Hoa Thang took the exam at Tran Quoc Tuan High School (Phu Hoa District) and shared: “Literature is not my strong subject, but with this exam, I got 6.5 points. The most difficult part of this year’s exam was question 2 of the writing section.”
Anxiously waiting for her child to take the exam in front of Nguyen Van Linh school, Ms. Ho Thi Tu, Hoa Hiep Trung ward (Dong Hoa town) shared: "I am just as nervous and stressed when my child takes the exam, I hope my child will achieve good results. With excellent academic performance for many years, I have faith that my child will do well on the test to achieve his wish to enter his favorite university."
Good test, materials outside the textbook
The structure of the Literature exam consists of 2 parts: Reading comprehension (4 points) for a text with 5 small questions and writing (6 points) with 2 questions: Paragraph writing (literary argument, 2 points), essay writing (social argument, 4 points). This structure has been announced by the Ministry of Education and Training in advance, and has been shown in the sample exam, so many students will not feel confused.
The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first year that candidates will take the exam according to the 2018 general education program. According to teachers, this year's Literature exam has a new structure compared to previous years' exams, with clear differentiation. The exam is practical, requiring candidates to know how to apply it to do well on the test.

According to Mr. Ho Tan Nguyen Minh, Head of the Literature Group, Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted, the 2025 high school graduation exam in Literature is designed in accordance with the spirit of the new program, which means it is designed to develop students' abilities. All exam questions are outside the textbooks, students cannot memorize, learn by rote, or guess the questions to memorize, but must base on the abilities developed during the learning process to handle the exam questions themselves.
This is a new and positive point of this year's exam. The exam is relatively easy, suitable for the purpose of graduation assessment for students nationwide. The system of questions is suitable, ensuring accuracy, rationality and distributed at many levels: recognition, understanding, application.

The test shows a very clear integration when both the reading comprehension and writing sections (both literary and social argumentation) are related to and revolve around the text “Different Skylands” by Nguyen Minh Chau. This helps students feel more relaxed and comfortable because they only need to process one text for all the questions.

The social argumentation question of the exam is topical, closely following the reality of contemporary life. Overall, this is a good exam, ensuring the requirements set for a graduation exam, ensuring scientificity , integration and closeness to real life. However, in my personal opinion, the social argumentation question (4 points) because of trying to stick to real life, the way of asking is not skillful, somewhat forced.
This afternoon (June 26), candidates will take the Math exam with a 90-minute test time.
