Ultrasound results showed that the gestational sac was still in the uterus.
Gia Dinh People's Hospital (HCMC) said the pregnant woman was transferred from District 1 Hospital to the emergency room in a state of shock due to blood loss and multiple injuries at 7:40 a.m. on April 3.
Here, the initial CT scan results showed that the patient had a grade 2 left kidney laceration, a grade 3 liver rupture, a fracture of the right sacrum and the upper third of the left femur. The patient underwent emergency surgery by doctors at the hospital.
Doctor Hoang Quoc Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, said on the evening of April 3 that the surgery ended at 12:30 p.m. the same day. Doctors performed a left pleural drainage, sutured the perineal wound, placed an external fixator on the pelvis, sutured the left thigh wound, and inserted a pin to pull the pregnant woman's left leg.
"During the surgery, the patient was transfused with 4 red blood cells and 4 units of frozen plasma. Liver and kidney damage will continue to be closely monitored," said Dr. Thang.
According to Dr. Thang, as of 4 p.m. the same day, the patient was sedated and on a ventilator. The ultrasound results showed that the gestational sac was still in the uterus. Currently, doctors are actively resuscitating the patient after surgery.
Earlier that morning, a tamarind tree in the campus of Tran Van On Secondary School (Nguyen Van Thu Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) suddenly fell onto the street, injuring 7 people who had to be hospitalized.
