Multiple collisions on Kham Thien street: Newly purchased pickup truck, just "handed over"

Regarding the series of accidents between a pickup truck and many motorbikes in Hanoi, through inspection, the police determined that the driver did not violate the alcohol concentration and tested negative for drugs.

Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on July 23, a series of traffic accidents occurred on Kham Thien Street, in front of house number 87 Kham Thien (Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward, Hanoi ). A pickup truck with license plate number 30F-498.XX traveling towards Le Duan collided with 8 motorbikes, 1 electric motorbike and a man standing on the street.

At the scene, there were 3 motorbikes under the pickup truck, the remaining vehicles were scattered on the road and sidewalk, many pieces of debris were scattered on the road.

The man who was hit by the pickup truck was then taken to Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment. After a health check, doctors found no abnormalities.

The pickup truck was removed from the scene of the accident after the investigation was completed.

Immediately after the incident, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police urgently sent forces to the scene to coordinate with Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward Police and related units to regulate traffic to prevent congestion; organize protection and investigate the cause.

Through subsequent inspection, the police determined that the pickup driver, Mr. NVT (born in 1975; residing in Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi), did not violate the alcohol concentration and tested negative for drugs.

At the police station, driver NVT said he had just bought a pickup truck from someone on Kham Thien Street. When he went to the notary office to hand over the keys, driver T. had just started the engine when the pickup truck suddenly jumped forward. The driver wanted to avoid hitting a pedestrian so he turned the truck onto the sidewalk. At the same time, a man riding a motorbike from the alley was caught under the car.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
