Ca Mau 'king crab' weighing more than 1.8kg proposed to set Vietnam record

The 2025 Ca Mau “King Crab” was determined to weigh 1.82kg and brought its owner a prize worth 15 million VND. In addition, this crab was also proposed to be recognized as a Vietnamese record.

On the evening of November 22, the organizing committee of the Ca Mau crab record contest announced the results of the contest to set the record for the biggest crab in Ca Mau in 2025.

The organizers said there were 10 crabs competing, the "king crab" of Ca Mau in 2025 weighed 1.82 kg and belonged to Du Thai Binh Company Limited (Nam Can commune), with a crab shell width of nearly 20 cm.

Second prize went to a crab weighing more than 1.5kg owned by a resident named Pham Thuy Quyen, in Ly Van Lam ward.

This year the organizers did not award third prize.

"King of crabs" Ca Mau will be proposed to set a record for Ca Mau crabs with a prize of 15 million VND, second prize will receive 10 million VND. The "record setting contest for Ca Mau crabs" is one of the activities of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025.

According to the organizers, the crab festival's series of events attracted more than 120,000 visitors and shoppers.
