In the penultimate match of Group A of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on the evening of October 8, Egypt easily defeated the weak team Djibouti (ranked 193rd in the world ) with a score of 3-0. In which, star Mohamed Salah shone when contributing a double in this match.

With the above result, Egypt has won a ticket to the 2026 World Cup when it is certain to top Group A with 23 points, 5 points more than the second-ranked team Burkina Faso in the context of only one match left in the qualifying round.
In the past, Egypt participated in three World Cups in 1934, 1990 and 2018. In the most recent participation in 2018, Salah and his teammates played disappointingly when they lost all three matches against Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia. In the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Egypt lost to Senegal in the penalty shootout in the play-off match and missed out on the biggest football festival on the planet.
Thus, Egypt is the third team in the African region to win a ticket to the world's biggest football festival after Morocco and Tunisia. Tonight and tonight, the 2026 World Cup qualifying round in Africa continues. Teams like Senegal and Algeria have the opportunity to continue to win tickets to the tournament in the US, Canada and Mexico.
