After being discovered, the subject abandoned the rifle, two black bags and other items and fled in a black car. According to CNN , local security forces quickly discovered and arrested the gunman as he tried to flee. This was the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in two months since Mr. Trump was shot in the ear while campaigning outdoors in Pennsylvania in July. US media added that this person had made "strange" social media posts about Ukraine. According to US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene on September 15, the suspect accused of plotting to assassinate former US President Donald Trump outside a golf course in Florida was "haunted" by the conflict in Ukraine. "The man who plotted to assassinate Mr. Trump today is named Ryan Wesley Routh... He is haunted by the war in Ukraine, funded by the United States," Congresswoman Greene wrote on social network X. According to the online records of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, suspect Routh was convicted in 2002 for possessing weapons of mass destruction. The records do not provide details about the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Secret Service and local police forces are still investigating the shooting. Meanwhile, suspect Ryan Wesley Routh has not yet made any statements about the incident. In a fundraising email, former President Trump said he was safe and healthy. Meanwhile, the White House said on the same day that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had both been briefed on the incident and were reassured that former President Trump was safe. President Biden also condemned political violence and other forms of violence in the United States and said he had directed his team to provide the Secret Service with all resources, capabilities and protective measures necessary to ensure former President Trump's continued safety. On social network X, Vice President Harris said she had received information about the shooting and affirmed that violence has no place in the United States.
