New rural construction contributes to improving people's lives

The Party Committee and People of localities have strived and made efforts to achieve many achievements in economic, cultural and social development.

Improved living

In mid-March 2025, Nhon Phu and Binh Phuoc communes held ceremonies to announce the communes meeting NTM standards. These are the last two communes of Mang Thit district to reach NTM standards by the end of 2024.

As one of the agricultural communes of Mang Thit district, Binh Phuoc commune is about 8km from the district center and about 16km from Vinh Long city center. People's lives mainly depend on agricultural production. The commune has areas specializing in rice, fruit trees, vegetables, and aquaculture.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Chairman of Binh Phuoc Commune People's Committee said: In agricultural production, quality farming and livestock models have been formed. Accordingly, models of raising crickets, raising swiftlets for nests, raising bees for honey, and raising civets have brought good income and a prosperous life for farmers.

To help people increase their income, Binh Phuoc commune has encouraged farmers to renovate ineffective gardens to grow fruit trees with high economic value.

Currently, the commune has Binh Phuoc Fruit Tree Cooperative (growing green-skinned grapefruit) and 7 production cooperatives, creating conditions for farming households to link together, produce on a larger scale, and bring higher economic efficiency.

This has contributed to increasing the value of the agricultural sector of Binh Phuoc commune to an average growth rate of 2.6%/year. Vocational training to create jobs for idle agricultural workers and propaganda and mobilization work to send workers to work abroad for a limited period of time have been carried out quite well... contributing to increasing the average income per capita of the commune to 59.12 million VND/year.

Up to now, the economy of Binh Phuoc commune continues to develop. The material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved. Residential housing has been invested in expanding and upgrading, raising the rate of standard housing to 97.83%. Households using tap water from the centralized water supply system reached nearly 88.3%. The rate of multidimensional poor households has decreased to 0.74%... Political security and social order and safety have been maintained and stabilized.

Building the homeland more and more developed

As a rural commune of Mang Thit district, Nhon Phu commune is located 5km from the district center. People's lives mainly depend on agricultural production (rice), brick production and business and other services.

Mr. To Minh Tri - Chairman of Nhon Phu Commune People's Committee said: The commune's agricultural production method has gradually developed. The application of science and technology in production has been promoted. The commune has built many quality farming and livestock models such as: growing green-skinned grapefruit, growing durian, growing seedlings, raising eels... bringing high economic efficiency in accordance with the agricultural restructuring plan.

Through this, the value of the agricultural sector achieved a growth rate of 3.36% over the same period. Small-scale handicrafts developed and operated effectively, creating conditions to solve employment for idle laborers in rural areas, raising the average income per capita to 59.71 million VND/year.

Ms. Nguyen Huynh Thu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Mang Thit District Party Committee said: With the determination of leadership, direction and management of the District Party Committee, District People's Committee together with the efforts to overcome difficulties of the people and business community, the socio-economic situation of the district in the past year continued to develop, achieving many positive results in all fields, including the work of building new rural areas.

People's lives in Mang Thit district are improving day by day.

To basically complete the contents and criteria of the new rural district in the 2024-2025 period according to the roadmap; Nhon Phu commune, Binh Phuoc must achieve the new rural standards in 2024. Although facing many difficulties, the Party Committee, government and people of the communes have made great efforts to complete 19/19 new rural criteria according to the plan.

To continue to maintain and improve the quality of new rural communes, the Secretary of Mang Thit District Party Committee requested the Party Committee, authorities and people of the communes to promote information and propaganda on building new rural areas; focus on implementing well the plan to restructure the agricultural sector, develop agricultural production towards agricultural economy and digital economy; develop specialized fruit gardens, carry out well the work of building growing area codes, the program of one product per commune...

Along with that, effectively promote local resources, mobilize people's internal resources to invest in infrastructure construction; regularly maintain and repair works and projects in the management area.

In implementation, it is necessary to ensure publicity and transparency, promote the role of the subject and supervision of the people; well implement the grassroots democracy regulations according to the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people enjoy".

At the same time, continue to raise people's awareness of protecting and improving rural landscapes and environment; build and replicate effective models in classifying, collecting and treating waste at source from households; and models of bright, green, clean and beautiful residential areas.

At the same time, promote cultural, sports and entertainment activities at cultural sites to continuously improve the spiritual life of rural people.

To effectively carry out the above tasks, Ms. Nguyen Huynh Thu suggested that each cadre and party member should continue to uphold the spirit of responsibility, be exemplary, and promote the role of the head of the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and mass organizations.

At the same time, it is necessary to continue to maintain the spirit of solidarity of the people, actively respond and participate in movements launched by localities, and build the homeland to become more and more developed.
